The Terrace

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 They telling me that
The terrace is dead
No more Stretford End,
No more Chelsea’s Shed

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Far too much trouble,
Violence and rage
That’s all been consigned
to a very different age

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We’re all too civilised
We must stay in control
So consequently nobody
Can stand behind the goal

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Sorry if you think that
It’s really not the same
Now that all the passion
has gone out from the game

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The Premiership grounds
from Anfield to Highbury
Now seem more like
sitting in a library

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 With prawn cocktails
And buffet in hand
Now how can you eat that
if you had to stand?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Its all sponsorship and
corporate hospitality
we’ve got to face up
to financial reality

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The future is sanitised
Homogenised and clean
You may politely applaud
to encourage your team

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 I’m not that sort of bloke
It’s really not for me
I can’t courteously clap
I need agony and ecstasy

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 So I’m off to the ground
It seems that time forgot
And stand in the East Bank
down at Aldershot
