There’s Always the Weather

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Now that it’s all over and the battles have been done
We must leave our dreams behind us, it’s the end of the season
As we say our fond farewells to our favourite fantasy
It’s the winners, not the losers, who go down in history

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Though we’ve all had our share of joy and despair
Those brave defeats and famous victories
There’s always the weather
To help forget about the way things might have been

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 When the final whistle blows and the players trade their shirts
There are just as many faces who now know how much it hurts
As we wave our flags and banners at the silent, empty seats
Where once they sang the anthems of our old adversary

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Now there’s nothing left to play for and anyone can see
That you’re fighting back the tears to maintain some dignity
But there’s always the weather
To help forget about the way things might have been

Notes

I am a Lincoln City and England supporter and therefore used to losing big games, regularly.
