This Park

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 This park, this land, this vastness of space
In the history of our great city she has her place,
Of bringing laughter and smiles to young and old
Feeding ducks, rides on swings during the warmth and the cold.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 This park, those fields, those daffodils over there
They belong to this city don’t the money men care?
They’ll call it progress and say it is for the best
But I call it change, this I must get off my chest!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 This park, those trees, that lake with the ducks
Belongs to you and I not the men with the big bucks,
No super stadium to call Anfield and no upheaval for all
Surely this is a matter for the whole of Liverpool to call.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 This park, my say, my only voice
Let’s have a vote I’ve made my choice,
Stanley Park, a park for you and I
Where memories of yesterday will never die.
