To all the football poets-Happy New Year.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Another year coming to a close
football season halfway through
us fans going into Christmas
cock-a-hoop or feeling blue.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But us poets are all the same
no matter what colours we wear
because we love poetry and football
even when it’s cruel and unfair.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Some of us support big clubs
and others much lower down
S.B. Ingle follows Norwich City
and not their rivals Ipswich Town.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Crispin has a soft spot for two teams
Forest Green and his beloved Chelsea
which can cause problems on a Saturday
as he has to decide where he should be.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 This great site has fans from all over
writing about their clubs in verse
while their team is on a crest of a wave
others like mine go from bad to worse.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So I’d like to take this opportunity
to wish all football poets a Happy New Year
and success to all your football clubs
and they bring you some festive cheer.
