1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Bullet header by powerhouse defender
hardly renowned for his goalscoring exploits
had us rocking and rolling in the
County Ground aisles.
Memories of relegation banished
as Town enter new era
with Luggy at the helm.
Even Keates’ last minute wonder strike
can’t quell the euphoria.
Players’ lap of honour so
different from last year
when fans poured scorn
on their heroes’ woeful efforts.
Fans on the pitch despite
repeated, increasingly heated, reminders
from harrassed officials on booming tannoy,
but celebrations good natured:
swapping shirts with Saddlers’ fans,
shaking hands, exchanging pleasantries.
All looking forward to life in League One;
avoiding the dreaded play-offs.

Notes

Great game, great performance, wonderful scenes at the end of the match with both sets of fans celebrating. Nearly 15,000 at the County Ground proves that Swindon IS a football town.
