Walking Alone

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I sit with these old ghosts of mine
Their loved faces livid in the passing of our days
But the songs still linger upon dry lips
And passion’s hearts
We pass each other by on the same streets
Wet from the rain of silent skies
Who have the look of weary resignation
Of those who have been here before
Maybe one too many times
Our words tumble from the upturned soul
Kicked along the gutter and then struck
Violently against a wall that has borne many goals
Wembley Cardiff Paris Rome
Trophies here I held up to that same silent sky
And I was received by God’s own Angels
That no one else saw….
I walked alone.
