4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It’s too easy a title, but it works (unfortunately, I had to as well)

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Work.
Too much on.
Jacket off.
Tie off.
Cufflinks off.
Sleeves rolled.
Snowed under.
Yet still sweltering.
Too busy.
In a tizzy.
I’m stewing.
Trouble brewing.
Deadlines late.
Heated debate.
Accusations.
Excuses.
Fired.
Re-hired.
Calm required.
Meeting expired.
In truth, my mind was elsewhere.
Having to concentrate on work, just wasn’t fair.
Dash to the nearest screen.
Still at the ground, but not much sight of green?
Game over?
What’s happening?
Some people are on the pitch –
They think it’s a……….
Ruck.
What the ……..
Que pasa?
It seems it all kicked off
With a cuff from Cufré.
And it’s more than a handbags soufflé
There’s a German down
Holding his crown
And Heinze, going through 57 varieties of splenic discomposure
The whole squad, seemingly discommoded by this closure
And still I’m waiting, waiting
To hear the actual result
And then, post tumult
The camera pans
To the fans
And the whole ground is bouncing
No need to be announcing
The hosts have won through
And the Argies match their strip – deep blue
They’re officially a gonner
And there we see – Maradona
His hands now wringing
There’ll be no Hand of God swinging
His scarf
And we larf
(But what’s to be our fate?)
