WC2010 : Day 15

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The World Cup Has Started in Ernest

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But – but – how does he fit them all in?
Has he the stomach for it?
We have to know –
It’s too important to ignore it!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 How does he have room
For all the best teams in the world?
Is it that
He has his intestines unfurled?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We constantly wish for a glut of goals
But does he have a gut full of those?
And do the referees
Get up his nose?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And all those big new shiny stadia –
I presume he has a massive belly?
But where does he fit
All the cameras for the telly?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 And do the vuvuzelas
Give him indigestion?
If so, does he neutralise it with kaka smeltze?
Which leads to another question …

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 How, in God’s name
Does he find peace for meditation?
I guess one must assume
That he has accreditation!

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 And so yes, yes, pedantic me, I spotted a headline with a missing ‘a’ –
One of the worst typo’s I’ve ever seen
But that’s why spilling is so important –
Just ask Robert Green!!!!

Notes

A silly poem for some silly results!
France … out!
Italy …. out!

Spain? Could be!

Showing my age here…

And conscious of our younger readers…

Ernest is an old fashioned name, not much in use these days.
Some famous examples:

Ernie Wise, from Morecambe & Wise
&
Ernie, the Fastest Milkman in the West, of Benny Hill fame
&
Ernie Hunt, executor (along with Willie Carr), of the most inventive free-kick ever seen (at the time). Whether it exists on Youtube or not, I couldn’t tell you.

Whereas … earnest … the banner headline was trying to convey that the World Cup is starting to get serious, but just got me going silly!

😉
