Where’s Adlestrop?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Now I don’t remember Adlestrop –
The name, because one afternoon
Of heat our local football team won
Unwontedly. We were over the moon.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The radio hissed. We heard the full time scores.
No one left and no one came
On the bare platform. What I saw
Wasn’t Adlestrop – it wasn’t the name

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Of the station we were standing in
With its wrappers of sweets and cans all dry
No whit less still and lonely fair
Than all the toilet rolls in the sky.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And for that moment a supporter sang
Close by, and around him mistier
Farther and farther all drunk fans
To show who was the pissedier.
