There’s No Comparison.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Pal of mine back from Majorca
Was well impressed with the scene
Seems life there for a football supporter
Is a whole different can of baked beans?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Manicured lawns for the matches
Tapas and beer for the fans
Where twelve euro what ever that is
Buys a perch in a shiny new stand.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Punters who can’t get a ticket
Get a feed while they watch on TV
In a suite with a plasma screen in it
With a waiter supplying their needs.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Immaculate toilets and washrooms
Concourses state of the art
Warm humid weather as kick off time looms
With a wonderful view of..’The Park’.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 “I couldn’t believe it, such order on leaving
No shouting or cheering in sight”
What no after match beering, or winding up, jeering
I wonder what that must feel like?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Sat there listening, I suppose I was jealous
Whilst this pal of mine raved on and on
Then I re-call what dear ma used to tell us:
“Son, there ain’t nuffink like being at home”.

Notes

As much as we fans may moan (and let’s face it I’m one of the biggest) would shiny new stadia or having teams that share the same ground(as they do in some countries) really turn us on or off…our game, as we’ve come to love or loathe it.

Let’s face it the cut and thrust full on local derbies, dodgy sloping muddy pitches,, antiquated grounds, etc, etc are all part and parcel of whats unique about The Game, in this country of ours is it not?

I know we always seem to judge Walsall on a wet Wednesday night as a sign of true fan loyalty, which I’ve done by the way, but will watching a plasma screen stuck on a wall in some suite that’s usually reserved for corparate media events, ever really replace the buzz and the heart stopping moment when you reliaze stood there on the terrace or sat wet and freezing cold (miles from home) that if we don’t score pretty soon ..we’re out.

There’s No Comparison or is there?

If it ain’t broke…don’t fix it comes to mind for some strange reason.

Peace.

Kev.
