A Hazardous Victory.

Espadrilles and gaudy clothes
Lit up The Fulham Road
With punters flashing tans for all to see
T’was a like a fashion show
Put on by Burberry and co
Of the latest chic one might wear down by the sea.

Had those travelling on the tube
Not heard the forecast on the news
Pertaining that the game might not be played
Instead of posing in the street
They’d have put a Barbour o’er their chic
Then cancelled pre match fashion type parade.

So the game Thank God was saved
Like a gift to us what braved the rain
As we wallowed in the fare out on the pitch
Seemed strange as Micky’s pen flew in
We’d earlier concerns for a cancelling
Though it seems our pitch’s drainage did the trick.

Enough on the state of our playing surface
The Toon were sterile if I’m earnest
Rarely troubling our stout lines of defence
So when Fernando made it two
Shed-loads of fickle tans in Blue
Started talking us up as favourites for The Prem.

Three games played and with all three won
Ain’t the time to bang the drum?
Loudly from the rooftops ”It’s Our Year”
As the well versed fan knows to their cost
What seems won can soon be lost
During races when the winning post feels near.

On the whole we can feel well pleased
With new faces and those released
Our team is going forward at lighting pace
Mickey Hazard looks the biz
Fernando seemingly can’t miss
So we could partake in what’s said is a two horse race!
