I’m Sorry, But ….I’ve Heard This One Before.

Another sad sorry tale of exhaustion
“Where I’ve played in too many games”
Well, welcome to the real world, where most us feel
Constantly physically and emotionally drained

Day in, day out, five or six days a week
In jobs that most of us don’t even like
Where we have little time off, or training each day
For us, training is…. how will we get by?

Oh to train daily, for an hour and a half,
Of exhultation from fans every week
Exhaustion from that, are you having a laugh?
I’d do that kind of job for backsheese!*

Get away with your tales of exhaustion
And your contract’s that don’t mean a thing
For four or five hours of toil every week
With pay, that could help build a hospital wing?

I’m sorry, I don’t buy it, so don’t even try it
Tired, worn out and depressed?
There are thousands out there who would soon take your place
In the cosseted world of the pampered and blessed!

Excuses, excuses, that’s all they are
More fodder for the red tops with pay
Exhausted? You soon found the energy to pen that last peice
So do us a favour…. take a long holiday!
