Marco Van Basten

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The style of one who rode tackles
With the effortless ease
Of a champion jockey
And made disciples of goals
And made gospels of skills
To leave defenders wrapped in
The clinging despair that wraps
Around a telephone which refuse
To ring, resolutely given to silence..
How you willed all into the
Neglected spirit
With its eloquent petulance
Full of colour
Full of promise
Squeezing rainbows
Out of their apathy
And then to leave
As a shadow glancing
Off a wall
To leave
As a word dissolving on the lips
Of a neglected kiss
To leave
Too quickly
To soon…
