Olympian

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I may take Olympian’s advice
and watch an Olympic match
even though the tickets are dear
and it’s about a fiver for a ‘batch’*

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But the Ladies team have won through
so it’s the Ricoh then Friday night
who’d have thought they’d beat Brazil ?
but these women have passion and fight.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 They have begun to cause some excitement
and it looks like the Arena will be sold out
but my mates only watch the Sky Blues
so if I go I’ll have to keep it to myself no doubt.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But that’s hardcore football fans talking
they think it’s wrong to cheer another side
but this is an Olympic team playing
so it should fill us with some national pride !

Notes

Nice poem from Olympian. I admit I haven’t been excited with Olympic football as yet. But watching the Ladies beat Brazil then hearing the next match was here in Coventry it did make me feel a bit more keen.
The local paper and news says tickets are being snapped up,and a full house is on the cards.
The attendances have been impressive for most of the games at the Ricoh, average is around twenty eight thousand I’ve read.
My fellow Sky Blue mates say we could do with that for our club, but we have to go back many years to the days that was our average !

*Editor Note: ‘batch’ we think here means a roll as opposed to a batch of tickets..which would be good ! Let us know if you go Kev?
