I look through the photographs
of Liverpool long ago
The image of Thompson in 77
Now brings home such woe.

A team of inconsistency
We’ll struggle to survive
Slowly running out of time
To keep our pride alive.

Fans that wear the red shirt
Are grim faced and broken
The future dark, the future dim
But the UEFA Cup is a token!

Then the photographs of ’77
Of brave men we would love to recall
Proud and true we treasure the memories
Of the times we won every ball!
