Think About It?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Witness anguish, fraught finales
Or eleven beat by ten
And that wonder us fans rarely see?
A German miss a pen.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 There’ll be wonder strikes and golden goals
Extra time, mayhem
Little ginger blokes who look like Paul Scholes
But no Germans missing pens.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The colour, and the euphoria
Of The World Cups back again
And that guaranteed phonomina…
The Germans don’t miss pens.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 That awful night at Wemberly
When the nations all was spent
Is a nightmare that recurs to me
That the Germans don’t miss pens.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Cool as ice, and hard as nails
Nervous? Not a scent
They’re the team who’s spot kicks rarely fail
The Germans taking pens.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Watch as grown men get reduced to tears
Hearts are broke to never mend
By the lore that puzzled fans for years
How come Germans don’t miss pens?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 I hope we don’t have to play them
Could be deja vu again
Surely there must come a game
When the Germans miss a pen?

Notes

This poem started out as a bit of fun and could have gone on for ages, but it still beggars the question: how do they do it?

Peace.

Kev.
