Thoughts From An Empty Place!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Tis Saturday, me teams away
So I’ll not bother going
But as I walk along the street
The gates to the ground are open
So I’ll take a peek with no one knowing

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The terracing’s being hosed down
The groundsmen check the lights
A cool machine rolls o’er the green
To paint the touchlines white

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Silken nets like spiders webs
Ripple in the breeze
The woodwork has been washed clean
The corner flags wave free

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 No one seems to notice me
As I view me second home
The memories I have of here
The times me minds been blown

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Tis very nearly fifty years
Since I first walked through gates
After that first match, in a purple patch
That was it! Me destined fate

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The sun shines down upon the grass
Where grand stand casts it’s shadow
Around this lush green pitch so full, so rich
Where we lived out our dreams for tomorrow

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Ah this place and it’s history
Thing’s I’ve witnessed, seen and heard said
The lift that you get as you walk through those gates
Tis a feeling that one never sheds

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Know what? An empty ground is inviting
The catalyst for all those forgot about dreams
At the moment its so much more exciting
Than to be sitting there watching me team!
