Last night while resting in my bed,
I looked through my starlit window,
And the moon had turned from white to red.
I sat up straight,
I have never seen that before,
I ran down my stairs,
And out of my front door.
It cast a red dusky shadow,
All over the roof tops,
Was it my imagination,
Would I wake up and make it stop?
I glanced over my shoulder,
To that great building in Liverpool City,
I have seen the bird a million times,
But this time, I swear she looked back at me.
And then with one powerful move,
She spread her wings to fly,
Nobody else saw her,
Just the moon the stars and I.
She flew for the first time,
In more than one hundred years,
Around Anfield she circled,
She cried 96 tears.
One tear for every INNOCENT,
But then she could not stop,
For every person affected,
Another tear she dropped.
Last night their was no flood warnings,
For Liverpool City,
But the river Mersey almost burst its banks,
As it raged through to the sea.
I woke again this morning,
With this vision in my head,
And I know I was not dreaming,
Because the sky it still glowed RED.
Our Bird she was back on her perch,
Where she has always been,
Standing proud and keeping guard,
The emblem of our team.
The truth is out,
Now for Justice we wait,
Through all the papers we do comb,
But the tears will not stop,
Even when the guilty have met their fate,
96 ARE NOT GOING TO COME HOME!!!!
