What More Do They (The Punters) Want?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We’d just gone two down in a home game
That records on pretty thin ice
When out came the old songs bearing his name
“Mourinho, Mourinho”, That’s nice.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Two games lost since he left, I’d hazard a guess
That most of us punters were pleased
Not a bit of it “You don’t know what you’re doing”
Rang out. As some fickle fans got up to leave.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’m sat back in me seat wryly smiling
As Ballack, at last shows his worth
As proceedings on field got exciting
With more cards than we got for Christ’s birth.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The Villa, it’s true, ran us ragged
Two speed merchants with bundles of pace
Then the pendulum swung our way as we grabbed
The lead. If we’d won, t’would have been a disgrace.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 One nil, shut up shop, don’t give them a shot
At goal and the three points are ours
In those days ninety minutes seemed like hours
As we focused our aim to win pots.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 I’ll grant (sic) you Avram ain’t changed it that much
Our style or the way that we play
But twenty minutes in, two goals to nil down
I’ll take a breathtaking four all….any day!

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So give the geezer a chance, as he tries to enhance
Our team and the way it performs
What happened to getting right behind the boys through the highs
And the inevitable downs in their form?

Notes

A happy and peaceful New Year to everybody out there.

Internet problems over the holiday so just catching up.

Just getting me voice back from a thriller v The Villa at The Bridge.

Joey Cole, who didn’t seem able to control the ball throughout this game, got substituted and all hell broke loose as a load of blues fans started to have a pop at the team and the manager.

Eight goals, three red cards, a great game and the home record still intact, you’d have thought would have made the holiday for most of them, but no, it seems that there’s no pleasing some people.

peace
