Farewell Melwood!

When Shankly arrived in 1959
The pavilion and fields were a mess
Describing it all in his memoirs
As a “sorry wilderness!”

Spotting craters Shankly asked
“Have the Germans been here?”
Superstars have since passed
Without fail, year on year

Melwood as an institution
A long term vision for Shankly
Five a side games the norm
For a pass and move philosophy

Adventures aplenty for decades
Within the walls of Melwood
It’s time for new adventures
Kirby is now the hood
