Spongers In A Jam.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Pupils at Malvern Primary School,
No longer kick a real football.
Banned by the head, Julie Peach,
Foot on leather now out of reach.
Health and safety says a sponge ball,
Is the one to kick whilst at school.
So after rain when out to play,
The ball absorbs water on the way,
The grit will get into the pores,
And dirt in eyes as head scores.
The ball will feel like half a ton,
And the game will lose all it’s fun.
The district that taught Stevie G,
Alas no longer the place to be.
To fulfil a lad’s boyhood dream,
And lead with pride his boyhood team.

Notes

Mrs Peach said, school policy was clear – the only balls not considered a health hazard were those made of sponge.

Has Mrs Peach ever put a sponge ball the same size as a normal football in a bucket of water for a couple of minutes and then tried to kick it?

When I went to school the juniors, 7-11 were in the downstairs part of the school, and the seniors,11-15 were upstairs, and we all used the same playground, and in the eight years I was there I cannot remember a time when someone was injured playing a ball game in the playground.
