A black and white chain has been broken
Which has held strong for Forty One year
The Fairs cup winners today are in mourning
With the passing of Jackie Sinclair.
The wee man from north of the border
Who was to […] -

Who puts up with all of the hassle
He gets it everywhere he goes
From Rochdale to Newcastle.

I know what you were thinking
That must have been a fluke
But in truth we should have scored some more
We let Villa off the hook.
Anything Chelsea or the Arsenal did
We thought we’d do the same
The entertainers […] -

We got what we expected
We could have wrote the script
Black n White lambs to the slaughter
So seriously ill equiped
And as Mike Ashley sat there watching
The purse strings still tied tight
We all face a long hard […] -

Mathews, Milburn, Mannion
Long ago when they were young
Played the game with style and grace
Like words from a poets tongue.

From Roker Park to White Hart Lane
Crowds flocked […] -

Central station is heaving with
Black n White tops
Cash tills been jingling
In all the clubs shops
On route to Glasgow
For a pre season game
Many opinions may differ
But our faith stays the same. -

And many grown men wept
At big Titus’s defensive frailties
Which were frankly quite inept.

Why can’t we bring them back
When the reserve team defenders
Faced the first team attack.
No quarter asked or given

And what the game […] -

Purse strings are tied tight
The club has issued a statement
Revealing our plight.

Free transfers and loans.

Mission complete
We await the fixtures
Of who, and when we will meet
Who will we get rid of
And who will we buy
Big money signings
Now pie in the sky
We probably won’t spend a penny
With prudence […] -

Hi Crispin,
Thanks for the featured poem for the Arsenal Premier League victory. I love that photo showing the Arsenal ladies and fans in full rattle and rosette mode. I’ve seen it before quite a few times and, I think, a bit iconic. I think it was before the Gunners victory against Liverpool in the 1950 FA Cup Final. Great photograph.
Thanks
Joe

Thanks for that Joe. Yes it’s been some season we had a blip but came out of it and finished strong. A mate of mine supports West Ham here in Coventry and my next door neighbour is a Spurs supporter, and both are getting edgy ! I like the Championship though as it’s competitive and has some good teams, players, and fans. Anyway we are back in the top flight and who knows what will happen ?
Cheers. Kev.
