You gave me years of pain.
My dreams soared upwards like a dove,

I stood upon your moss-strewn stand
Through snow and wind and rain.
The barrier frozen to my hand,

Each season’s start filled me with hope,
I’d sing the old refrain.
But soon I’d watch the steep’ning slope
Cause all my dreams to wane.

And now my life is at an end,
I’ll soon be free from strain.
Goodbye, my undeserving friend,
I’ll not see you again.
