Indication.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Sat indoors in comfort on a well worn sofa
Six bare feet resting on a pouffe.
We look forward to the fervour
Of a televised live match coming from The Library
Confident of continuing a run of victories
Over our North / South London rivals.*

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 As Andy and Richard digitally arrive in our living room
They try and crank up the ante.
Andy, by pressing all the wrong buttons
On his hi – tech computer screen,
Leads a seemingly naive Richard (yeah right)
Through match tactics, he (R) professes to know little about.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The first half
Is a fraught affair.
We’re clearly not at the proverbial races
And the home team deservedly
Take a one nil lead
Just before the interval.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A long lay off,
And weather enforced Christmas break.
Look like they’ve taken their toll on our team
Who appear lazy and out of sorts
So much so
That as the whistle goes

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 To start the second half
We struggle to even kick off
As the Gooners forward line
Converge on us hyena like
And nick possession
On the half way line.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 “They can’t do that, can they?”
Yells my son at the screen
“They can and indeed have”
Say I soothingly
The voice of expierience
Feeling today could be one of those days

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Where it all goes pear shaped!

Notes

Little signs during a game, can indicate to us fans, when we’re (our team that is) not on the ball (sic) and today is just not our day.

Losing possession right at the kick off to the second half was that sign at The Emirates the other evening, that told me, as Scouse mates used to say: there’s nothing down for us today!

Some Londoners still believe The Arsenal to be a South London side, because they started their football life South of The River Thames as Woolwich Arsenal.

Peace.
