Part of It All
PART OF IT ALL (at the heart of football)
well it’s starting to get pretty late now
it’s getting real late in the year
we might as well wait til next season my friend
when the heart becomes hopeful and clear
and lately i’m thinking how fickle it it is
and this time we surely will fall
but you and i know that wherever we go
we’re just glad to be part of it all
yeah it’s one of those times when you start to get real
and you feel like you just might break through
and it’s one of those times when you scream out loud
about what in the world can we do
like the anger at racist abusing
and the lowness of names that they call
do we turn a blind eye or just stand up and cry
for the future of life and football
and i don’t understand all this madness
this money this greed and this pain
the hatred of skin or just some other team
that just comes round again and again
but i’ve never been scared to speak from my heart
though sometimes it’s like a brick wall
but i’ll read you this poem
be you schoolgirl or Owen
and be glad to be part of footballl
and just when you feel like it’s worth sweet F.A.
and this is another dark day
some one phones in and they cry on the air
for their team or the way that they play
and i don’t feel naive to be feeling like this
and each season it ends up the same
i’m just always amazed at the twists that unfold
in this life and this beautiful gamel

Notes:
this is a poem /song that i wrote recently
which i’ve cunningly adapted..it’s about
not turning up at drug tests, clubbing, Leeds problems,Chelsea’s affluence, headline allegations, racism ,dodgy agents,
,superstar lifestyles ,arrogance and all the other good things about the game ! It’s also for..
for lovers and losers
and people in pain
and also for winners
in this funny old game..
and for jennie

Hi Joe
Shouldn’t your title read your poem Farewell Europe England to everyone exccept Aston Villa ?
I know you mention them in your poem , but I do feel sorry for Villa re the national press .
Largely ignored. the hype was was all about Man City & Arsenal with a bit of a nod to the Hammers..but hardly a mention of Villa..
So well done to them

Hi Crispin. Chris Sutton on the radio has gone for a Chelsea v Coventry final. As we know anything can happen in the Cup, and I reckon we can go to the final.
We’re still in with a chance of the play offs too, so lots to go for.

Hey Kev
Let the masses drool over their odds on City v Unted Final, but who knows how pressure can hit.
Cov and Chels will be rightly labelled as having no chance..but hey …stranger things have happened..
so Chelsea v Coventry…that’s the Final for us!

Hi Crispin,
How are you doing mate? Yes, you’re probably right but hey football is all about emotion and passion and I just love writing about the game. I try to keep my poetry to a reasonable length but there’s so much to write about the game and its literature just lends itself naturally to poetry. Sometimes I just get completely carried and I do apologise for the length of my poetry but it’s a great thrill to be associated with Football Poets.
Cheers mate

You’re right of course Joe but…..it’s actually more of a big welcome break for everyone who is not into Premier League ..I’m talking fans of EFL National League and below…..
Btw …is this actually your longest poem ever !?
