1963 : the last time West Ham won at Anfield

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 from the commentators history drawers :
Peters, Hurst, and Hunt, were the scorers
and a penalty conceded by Bobby Moore
so you can be sure
that the Hammers stood little chance
when they met Houllier’s ‘hommes’ from France
and the rest of his team in cherry red
the Irons defence, shred, split in two
thin stripes of claret, but no blue
having made the Anfield trip
to play in new away strip
even in such unfamiliar shirts
it still hurts
to be so easily brushed aside
it wounds the pride
of such dignified fans
and as the camera pans
you can see the disappointment, etched on their faces
as they watch Owen’s double, just one of his many braces
yet David James enjoyed himself, back in front of the Kop
conceded two, but paid homage, to the current Anfield crop
