A Beamback @ The Cinema.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Some flea pit down in Holborn
Was beaming in the match
So a bunch of those so chosen
Brought their tickets and made tracks.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Southampton Row was heaving
As the bus came to a stop
With us Blues fans still believing
Team could overcome the odds.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Ushered into tatty seats
Songs wafted from the dark
It was not us, but the travelling clique
Who had gone to Ayresome Park.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Kenneth Wolstenholme was rolled out
To liven up the chat
And give us fans a vocal show
And some feeling for the match.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Plastic pints bought in the foyer
Were consumed in tatty seats
With prices, out of order
From the boozer down the street.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Curtain raised, the game commenced
With a screening of the crowd
We searched for mates, who might have went
A roving to the Middlesborough FC ground.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The screen went blank as Kenneth sank
To silence from the speakers
Whilst West London fans drank
Dodgy beer from cloudy plastic beakers

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 No atmosphere, no programmes
No manager’s match notes
But loads of shouting as the screen went blank
From a crowd of half pissed blokes.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 A first for this loyal follower
A live beamback at the flicks
Never again. I’d rather shout and holler
At me idols, whilst at peace beside the pitch!

Notes

M’boro v Chelsea at the old Ayresome Park, was beamed back live to a fleapit cinema in Holborn, London. Must have been a play off or a cup tie, anyway something pretty important. I can’t quite remember, but never again, as us fans were ripped off once more with overpriced tatty seats in a right old run down joint, where watered down beer was served to the paying punters.

It would have been cheaper for us to hire a train up to the North East, but none of us could get the time off work, our grand-parents having died four times that season, already!
