Bally

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 like some terrier
in ’66
it was the Germans
left chasing your shadow
in that July Wembley sun
and on the top of the World
you danced
triumphant
defining moments in time
for Bally

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 grainy black and white images
of a re-run and re-run day
some forty years back
but you were so much a part of it
in another age
in another time
on another stage

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 first Bobby Moore
and now you
how unfair and oh how sad
how precious this life
but oh what football memories
you leave us

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 standing tall
on chairs at after-dinner speeches
impish defiant but gone
and we..
we lose
not just a personality
whatever that is
but a player with guts
intimidating frustrating
niggly determined
but always the passion
with Bally

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 i can you see
as then
covering every inch of the field
feisty and joking
and up for it
character indeed
oh how we’ll miss
Bally
