bums on seats

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I parked my bum
on cheap plastic, riven by metal
into concrete

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I parked my bum
into a moulded malaise of modernity

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I parked my bum

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 my mind grew numb

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 and my soul stained
by the tupperware tumblers
out on that plastic pitch

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 I’d seen more measured movement
from my old Subuteo statues

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 and so I stood up
as did others

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 and I walked
as did others

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 right out of that brand new shiny (soulless) edifice
as did others

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 and I never returned
ditto others

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 but I did
venture down the road

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 to where it all began

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 a Pyramid base
with no base Premiership Pharoahs

14 Leave a comment on verse 14 0 and I stood on a tiny terrace
with a tiny crowd

15 Leave a comment on verse 15 0 and yet we made a big, big noise
oh – the joys!

16 Leave a comment on verse 16 0 and I stood all game
and walked
and talked
and mixed
and ‘twixt
the fun under the sun
and the genuine commitment shown out on the pitch
all for just a few coppers as entry –
I felt rich
