Carving the Torquay

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 So the Championship crowd from Norfolk
Went on a short break to Torquay
To watch the underdogs of United
Play the Canaries led by Doherty

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Would we like to be beside the seaside
Or would Cup dreams be built on sand
Still goalless at half time
Not going quite as planned

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Though the pitch was a pedestrianised area
City fans travelled 300 miles to cheer
Eventually we forced two goals from corners
Riviera’s nice this time of year

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 So Torquay are out at the first hurdle
A Cup run is what City needs
Spare a thought for 19 man squad United
With no money and a pitch of weeds

Notes

Torquays groundsman reached into his own pocket to buy garden equipment to prepare for this Cup tie. Our squad stepped on a plane and stayed overnight in a decent hotel – the gulf ever widens
