Come Back Shanks

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Come back Shanks
And open up the bootroom
Pull on your old red trackie
Fasten those mud caked laces
And bring out the lads one more time

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Come back Shanks
And put them through your paces
The sweat box finesses
The old melwood traces
Of your glory and legend
Can never be erased

Glenbuck hero proud resolute
And rarely wrong (ask Hererra)
Carved the rock of Yeats
And built monuments from Ian St John
It’s been too long since you’ve been gone

Proclaim the old republic
Napoleon’s restless and
the bastion of invincibility
Is no longer what it was
The silver of Judas rattles
Endlessly, mercilessly through
Empty chambers that pass for hearts

With a word or two
Bring Bob and Joe
Bring back those ways
If not those days
Christ Shanks
Just come back.
