Day 19 : The Italian Job

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Italy 1 South Korea 2 (golden goal by Ahn)

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Italy, pithily
Succumb.
Numb,
With fear,
Their rear-guard,
Once so hard,
Punctured,
At this juncture,
By little Ahn

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Exit, stage left.
Stage fright,
Just might,
Explain,
The inane
Defending,
Depending,
On which direction,
Circumspection,
Pulls and drags,
Like little hags,
Grotty,
Totti
Et al

Notes

For the record :

2nd round

Japan 0 Turkey 1
Italy 1 South Korea 2
(golden goal, by Ahn, who plies his trade in Italy!)

South Korea – rewarded for their adventurous play and never say die attitude.
That’s been a feature of this World Cup – the old dinosaurs of the so called football superpowers, have been prepared to shut up shop and hang onto what they have, whereas the underdogs have thrown caution to the wind – and hasn’t it been wonderful? Plus, the Japanese and Korean fans have been superb. The ecstatic scenes from South Korea tonight are both breath-taking and awesome.

As for “like grotty little hags” – just look at the state of Gattuso – I rest my case.
