F.A.Cup Final

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’ve always loved the Cup Final
ever since I was a young lad,
I’d be glued to the telly for hours
and so was my football loving dad.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I liked watching all of the build up
on how the two teams got there,
I’d fantasize that I was playing
from the comfort of my chair.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The sun always seemed to shine
on Wembley at the end of May,
as the excitement started to mount
when the band marched on to play.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Then you’d get some famous singer
blasting out the song Abide With Me,
but all I was waiting for by now
was for the kick off dead on three.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I longed for the day my club was there
watching my team in the Sky Blue,
my father said we’ll get there one day
and in 1987 my dream came true.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 I couldn’t believe it was happening
as I was walking down Wembley Way,
but here we were in the Cup Final
with only the mighty Spurs to play.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 We were going to be lambs to the slaughter
the bookies said Tottenham will rip us apart,
but I just knew we could beat them
as we had a side full of spirit and heart.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 It was a really exciting end to end final
and it could have gone either way,
but my beloved Coventry City won the Cup
and I’ll never ever forget that wonderful day !

Notes

Still the greatest competition in the world !
