Fixed Penalty Notice Due

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 have you ever got back to the car park
having over-extended your stay
like an unwelcome alien visiting Earth
to discover it isn’t your day

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 and there on your windscreen as bright as the sun
a little square message for you
Fixed Penalty notice.. immediate fine
and there’s nothing at all you can do

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 have you ever been watching your country
in some footbally cup kind of way
and there at the end of a battle so tight
is a similar end to the play

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 and all you can do is surrender
though deep down inside we all know
like many a keen traffic warden
there is only one end to the show

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 and with head in your hand in each home in the land
you just wait for a gift or a sign
but it isn’t to be..will it ever?..we’ll see
but for now it’s the end of the line

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 and someday we’ll wake from this slumber
someday we’ll stand proud and strong
we are let down down and hurt we lie lost in the dirt
but somehow we must carry on..

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 thank god for the Euros – two thousand and eight
can we travel that road to the end?
at the end of the day ..we can blame who we may
but we just need to try once again
