football granny

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Who is to blame for my love of the game?
As a child I was taught it is not permissible to talk
When the ‘foote’ is on it is simply not done.
Since 1966 I have been a fan of the Liverpool team
To miss a match would be a great sin
I always have to know if my team it will win.
Wherever I am I have only one plan
That is to switch on the box, I even have Liverpool socks
And I know my team rocks.
Now it’s England I cheer whilst sipping my beer
“Offside, its offside, you idiot” I shout,
The looks I receive as I shout and I rant
Its not lady like I know but I am no saint.
I just know what I am talking about
The ref thinks he knows better than me.
All my friends think I am mad but it is they that are sad
When I cry “it’s the end of the game”
The referee says no there’s two minutes to go
A player he sprawls when he misses the ball
Oh the thrill of it all as I reach for my shawl
And disbelief is felt as a red card to him is dealt.
The player is enraged “a foul oh not me”
The referee disagrees and a penalty ensues
Oh no now the goalkeeper catches the ball a goal to deny
The ball hits the shoe of the substitute bought on
We have just lost two to one.
“Come on England” I roar, we can still make a show
Get to the next match and make our hearts glow
Just play your best and make this granny proud.
As I stand on my feet in the front of the crowd
