From The Bantams To The Sky Blues

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A football club was formed
in the year of eighteen eighty three,
calling themselves Singers Football Club
but now known as Coventry City F.C.
Fast forward to the present time
and what a long journey it has been,
like when winning the FACup
would become reality and not a dream.
Yet every fan has a favourite era
each supporter a really special time,
winning promotion to the first division
under Jimmy Hill has to be mine.
And we’ve had some great players
who have worn the sky blue,
Tommy Hutchison, George Hudson,
Ferguson and Wallace to name just a few.
But not just a long list of footballers
who represented the club with pride,
there’s been lots of managers too
with Mark Robins now in charge of the side.
And let’s not forget the loyal supporters
what a great set of fans they truly are,
cheering their team on home and away
travelling the country no matter how far.
So what a long history they have got
with times of high and many lows,
yet the sky blue flag is still flying
they’ve ridden the storms and took the blows.
So from Highfield Road to the CBS Arena
and from the Bantams becoming the Sky Blues,
while we all sing together
we will never lose.

Notes

Bit disappointed we are not in the play offs this season, but overall it’s been a decent campaign so can’t complain. Been supporting the Sky Blues for 60 years and it’s been quite a journey, with all its twists and turns. But still love my football club and so hopefully its onwards and upwards. PUSB
