Goalkeeper’s Curse

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Fractured finger
Splintered wrist
Bruised elbow
Hurting fist

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A goalkeeper’s mind
Is stronger than steel
His courage on the field
Is labeled unreal

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He is the last one
The only one
He stays behind
Calm under pressure
Or out of his mind?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He is a thief
A hero
Who can say?
He is the last chance we have.
They have no other way.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Save and he’s a hero
Fail-he’s perverse
That is why
It’s called a goalkeeper’s Curse

Notes

I am a goalkeeper. I love it, even though my club never played me when I was with them. I didn’t just give up, however. I started my own club called the FC Survivors, where I now have 20+ members. I’m playing a mini-World Cup in 2 weeks! Wish me luck!
Editor Note: Great images. You’ll find other fellow brave keepers here too. You might like to check out The Penalty Non Humphries
A big safe pair of hands welcome to The Football Poets..keep on..and GOOD LUCK!
