Great Expectations

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 What larks as Cardiff and Swansea
do battle in the Premiership:
a tale of two cities.
Fans wonder when the deadlock
will be broken, who will
hit the bullseye.
All teams go into the weekend
with great expectations,
but it could be bleak again
in Palace’s house of glass.
No chance that Jose will
be ever so ‘umble, though
if selected Joe
could bumble once more.
One question remains:
if Oliver is the ref will
there be a twist in the tale?

Notes

An article in today’s paper that extracts from some of the works of Charles Dickens are to be read out at the Pompey match tomorrow was the inspiration for this poem. With thanks to Joe for the last 2 lines!
