Hat-trick

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Playing the only game he loves
Proudly wearing his favourite gloves
He dived about to stop the shots
That flew at him from round the box
His reflexes and the offside flag
Combined to protect the onion bag
He kept a clean sheet to keep them on track
And at full time confronted the man in black
“I made three saves – I want the ball”
But ref said, “Tough – buzz off you fool!”
And off he stomped with ball underarm
Towards the tunnel away from harm
And poor old goalie looked on aghast
Cursing the fact his chance had passed
So he went back home to watch the game
They showed the goals but not his saves
“But I won that match, not the number nine
I’m number one and that ball should be mine!”
