Just When You Think It’s Over!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 “Valiant cup sides rarely give up the ghost” I jest to an empty room
“Perhaps another twist in the tail to ease impending Leeds fan gloom?”
Harry pensive as an accountant, his tax arrears forgot?
In evasive action sends Roman on, afore all net gained is lost.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 “A Russian wearing gloves” I thought, midst the televised hysteria
“An English cup-tie, even after a thaw ain’t nothing like Siberia?”
Roman’s first touch? Park Lane vibrates, it’s two one to “The Spurs”
Were Leeds United faithful silent? Not from what I heard.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Leeds attack with venom, in yellow waves they came
As the travelling fans from Elland Road applaud their passing game
The final seconds ebb away as a long ball hits the box
Dawson’s lunge is tempting fate as the ref points to the spot.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We can see it from both angles, on the replay sat indoors
Spot on! Dawson miss-timed his tackle and clearly missed the ball.
As mass hysteria comes to call on the North West London night
Up steps the saviour of previous round to keep United hopes alive.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Final whistle follows shortly; it’s a replay at Elland Road
For the neutral it’s a must see, as fans of The FA Cup will know!

Notes

Spurs v Leeds United at White Hart Lane yesterday, and another truly mindblowing episode from the national football treasure that is The FA Cup in all it’s infinite wonder, it was too.

This poem is based on the last twenty five minutes or so because thats all I was fortunate enough to witness, having just got back indoors, and put the kettle on, from the shops! Wonderful.

So bring on the replay from what’s sure to be: a heaving and vibrant Elland Road!

Peace

Kev
