Little Things At The Match We Notice

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The awful smell of stewing onions
Or that coppers horse that’s crapped
Touts who sound like characters from Damon Runyon
Plays. Snarling, “Who want’s tickets for the match?”.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Tarmacadam streets awash
With fans in summer shorts
Waiting for the great big kick off
Whilst stuck outside some themed pubs door.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The talk is of who’s left yer
He wasn’t great shakes any how
Ain’t it funny how last year’s ace
Is surplus to yer hearts requirements now?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And what about the multi million pounds
You’ve spent on what’s ‘is name?
The word being bandied round the ground
Is he’s unfit and needs games.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Fans just back from their holidays
Have come straight here from the airport
With sombrero’s overshadowing tired faces
That say “Vive La Espana”, or “Greetings From Majorca”.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Elderly William look well happy
Their weekend overtime is back
Rolled up shirt sleeves and them funny hats
Are a part of every Saturday summer match.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Other side have bought a crowd
Containing that fine specimen of a man
Who’s tattoed arms shout out aloud
That he is, will always and forever be a…………. fan

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Buy yerself a programme, stand back, watch the heaving crowd,
Take a few minutes to take in the view
Whilst soaking up the atmosphere of another expectant season.
That’s just beginning, and coming to your local ground
For every die hard football fan, or… the like’s of me and you!

Notes

Just some little observations from me other life spent at the stadium!
