New Paint

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There’s new paint on the sign
The grass on the pitch is cut differently
The renewal of the ground
Matches the confidence of supporters
Does anyone ever believe on the first day
That they’ll be relegated?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 If play-offs are in sight
Then everyone thinks they’ll sneak in sixth
At worst mid-table obscurity.
Even after three defeats
It’s a marathon not a sprint
And all will come good in the end.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Some managers might get a little edgy
As players shake off the rust
They’ll admit they’ll not be champions
But if they get a bit of luck
And situations swing their way
They’ll all be happy in May.
