So Long, Tony, And Thanks For All The Draws

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It started off so promisingly
but, like so much these days,
it simply wasn’t built to last.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Too many matches set up not to lose
too many games without a shot…
on target; no reflection of our glorious past.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Best squad in decades, but still
success is measured in finishing… seventeenth.
No decent Cup run since… the beginning of Time.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The pundits say we’ve been punching above our weight
for years. How long before that becomes the deserved position
of a talented bunch of players, playing in their prime?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Had my fill of trying to simply limit the loss;
eventually the buck had to stop… with the Boss.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Had my fill of dreading looking for the final score
so, so long Tony, and thanks for all the draws.

Notes

Written after the sacking of Tony Pulis. Nice bloke; did a decent job initially. But, clearly, run out of ideas and no wins since August… Board couldn’t be accused of hurrying to a rash decision…
