The Ballad of November 21st 2003

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Tonight is the night when things could go all right,
Or they might go quite horribly wrong.
We’ll need to be gritty to overcome City
And end off the night with a song.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Four times we have met [they won’t let us forget],
And we’ve only won one out of four.
And with Dolan in charge, and his shadow writ large,
We will not find it easy to score.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We’ll need to work hard and not give them a yard
For young Georgie’s the power to hurt us.
And the gods up above, may they shower us with love,
And not, as is usual, desert us.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I got laid off today with a bare two weeks’ pay,
And my wife is a little bit shaken,
But though the timing’s not great, who can argue with fate?
Though I don’t know who’ll bring home the bacon.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But ‘twill make things okay if we beat Cork today,
And a Drogs win would be quite fantastic.
Oh God! It would feel so intensely surreal!
Though my wife’s not so enthusiastic.

Notes

Depending on results tonight, Shels could win the league. Or we could be back in Fingernail Chewin’ City.
