The Olympics come to Coventry

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s usually known to us as the Ricoh Arena
but for a few weeks it’s changed its name
it’s now being called the City of Coventry stadium
and it’s proudly hosting lots of Olympic games.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 People have come here from all over the World
I’ve seen Japanese, Swedish, Mexican, to name a few
walking around our city centre in all their colours
and waving flags of Yellow, Green and Navy Blue.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I haven’t been to any of the games myself
but I’ve heard the football’s been okay
and the fans make a real good atmosphere
especially when those South Koreans play.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But at least the weather’s been good
and Coventry has felt more like sunny Spain
but remember you’re watching football in England
so be prepared then for lots and lots of rain !

Notes

I was walking by the stadium on Saturday and saw lots of visiting fans on the way to the games .It looked a bit strange to see all these people from all over the world milling about.

The friendliest are the Koreans though they’re always smiling and saying hello when you pass them.

But the most surreal sight is all these Oriental people on buses going back to where they’re staying staring out of the windows and waving at you !

But that’s the spirit of the Olympics and I’ve read that so far it’s been a success in Coventry, so that’s good news.
