The Perfect Game

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The perfect game
Is not to be found on SKY
Or replayed night after night
On 5LIVE
Does not tumble into glory
Across the grass of the Nou Camp
Or linger clinging to the golden boots
Of Zidane or Figo or Raul
The Perfect Game
Is not even at Anfield
(Tho it comes close)
Or Parkhead or Highbury
Or Old Trafford or Turf Moor
It is not to be found in the corridors
Of power or fame arguing
Over percentages and sponsorship rights
The Perfect Game
Is to be found in the schoolyards
The forgotten parks, the backyard walls
And the dreams of the child
For whilst children still dream
The Perfect Game
Is in the safest pair of hands
Of all.
