The worst rhyming poem ever?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’ve followed Chelsea
And Brentford
And Hampton

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’ve crossed the Irish sea
Forded the Thames
Swum with the plankton

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’ve driven in a hurry
Parked in a panic
Returned to wheels clamped on

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I’ve stood on half empty terraces
Also crammed into full houses
In danger of being tramped on

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I thrilled to the tune
The Liquidator, by Harry J & the Allstars
‘cos I never liked Frampton

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 But I’m blowed
If I can even find a bad rhyme
Now that we’re Hampton & Richmond!

Notes

my suburban west London roots are showing!
as is my love of Ska
also note, I now live in Dublin

the inspiration behind this?
trying (in vain) to find a witty response
to a comment posted up by Pete ‘Soonergooner’ –
where I was thinking of how to encourage everyone
to visit all manner of matches, not necessarily just
professional league fixtures

in my day (god I sound like my father!)
we used to be Hampton FC
and now for some reason, we’re Hampton & Richmond FC.

dedicated to Mum & Dad, ‘cos I love them
if I only got back more often, (they still live in Hampton)
then I could see if things have changed much at the Beveree
