1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Injured or dismissed
And at that point the manager thinks
Why did I not have a keeper on the bench?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Hands the jersey to the eager defender
In training he throws himself the hardest
Maybe when he falls he’ll stop a ball.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And every corner, every shot
Every free kick or aimless long ball
Causes concern for everyone who knows.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 His goal kicks look a little awkward
Mannerisms are laboured
As he kicks his studs against the post.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 He shouts at the back four
He’s been shouted at enough times
So knows how it goes.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 But in the role of keeper
He’s satisfying a itch he ignores
And he palms and punches and saves.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The clean sheet seemed lost
Yet he shrugs it off like a job
The ball just seem to hit him.
