Wolfgang Weber

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Everyone remembers Geoff Hurst’s hat-trick of ’66
Immortalised in grainy colours and those
Words of Wolstenholme
But what of Wolfgang Weber
And his toe poke that piqued the English
To take the game to extra time
For it was he not fate who harnessed fame for Hurst
And raised the question ‘When is a goal not a goal?’
If Weber had only shot wide then perhaps
We would not debate.
