World Cup Semi-Final, July 4, 2006

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’m getting ready to watch Germany and Italy
go at it in the World Cup Semi-Final in Dortmund
but this is the US of A and ESPN is airing
Nathan’s hotdog eating contest
to celebrate this nation’s birthday
(well the US are out aren’t they?).
The contestants are stuffing wieners
in their mouths, as many as they can get in.
I need a drink–they’re making me dizzy.
Will the liederhosened country that brought us
knockwurst and bratwurst do their
wurst with the Italians? But oh no, they don’t
— it’s shock and awe, a true hot dog contest,
as Italy wins with two late extra time goals,
the Germans who’d hoped to win on penalties
eaten up like Nathan’s hotdogs.
